How to treat your mane right:)

Lately I've been getting lots of request to do a haircare tutorial. I'm thinking about it but hair takes much longer than makeup. I just don't feel as if I can truly show the complete steps without taking shortcuts . I don't want to do this because I feel like it would in some way cheat your results..( Does that make sense) I think it does..Anyhoo.. I decided that I would start out with the products that I use frequently and provide you all with a play by play. I'm going to tell you some of the secrets that your hair stylist doesn't want you to know.

Step #1. Great conditioning shampoo

Women of color really should be careful when selecting shampoos..I know those commercials may sound great and the bottles look so fancy but I can tell you first hand that some of them they can and will destroy your hair. Most of the shampoos on the market are formulated to strip your hair or excess oils. this is why you should be very selective when making your purchase. While clarifying shampoo may work for others..it may be detremential to your hair's health. I use Creme of Nature conditioning shampoo.. It will make your hair silky and completely manageable. Creme of nature has been around for years and it just gets better and better with time. Don't sleep on the Pantene.(For relaxed and natural). It gets the job done as well.

Step #2. Conditioner

Being that I use the Conditioning shampoo, I find that an additional conditioner isn't necessary in most cases but If you have extremely dry hair go ahead..Use pantene conditioner..It's lovely.

Lets move straight to the treatments shall we.

Step #3. Hot oil treatment

This isn't your normal VO5 hot oil. This can be made in the privacy of your "kitchen"

You are going to need a few items

1. 1/4 cup (depending on length of hair) Extra Virgin Olive oil

2. 1 Tbsp= honey

3. Small plastic storage ziplock bag

4. Scissors

5. Shower cap

6. 3 cups very hot water

Ok..Now I know some of you all are like she is really tripping with those ingredients but hold tight. You will see where I'm going with this.

First pour your olive oil directly into plastic bag, add honey. Don't worry about trying to combine the 2. It won't work..just let it go. Make sure bag is sealed. Then take glass bowl or pyrex measuring cup(this is what I use) and fill with hot water. Place the plastic bag into water for about 3 to 5 minutes..You want it very warm but not hot enough to boil the hair off your head... Now..here comes the fun part. Grab a towel because it is going to get really messy. You've got 2 ways of handling this...You can apply product with you hand or you can cut a very small hole in the bottom of your ziplock bag and use to apply..This is the easier, less messy way. Apply to hair and make sure ends are covered. Using fingers massage into scalp. Cover with plastic cap and let it ride for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once your time is up, remove cap and rinse well. You may want to shampoo lightly once to remove residue. Chances are you will look like Mister from the Color Purple for about a hour..Don't worry..it will go away. Once you are done with that you may towel dry and style as usual. This works to stop breakage dead in it's tracks. It provides the hair with the nutrients that it needs to strengthen. I do this at least once a month. Maybe 2ce in the winter. It works wonders and you will see results instantly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now..for really bad damaged hair you are going to need something a little more powerful and I have got just the thing. The heavy hitter...This was a staple in the hair shop that I use to work in..We all swore by it and who would have ever guess that it only cost $4.99 for a bottle that will last you a year. This has saved many of my clients hair..especially those who took it upon themselves to color , bleach and or relax without having a clue of what they were doing.

Aphogee Treatment

This product is formulated to restore seriously damaged hair to normal healthy condition
By following a few little steps you will be on your way to healthy hair in no time but it has to be used as directed.

Shake well before use!

Gently cleanse hair with ApHOGEE Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly & towel blot dry.
Apply enough ApHOGEE Treatment to thoroughly saturate hair and comb blend for even distribution, this may be difficult because the treatment is of a thick consistency, if this is the case...use what GOD gave you..Your fingers.

By now..You are probably noticing the GOD awful odor coming from the bottle but fight through it..You've got healthy hair to get to.

Leaving hair uncovered. (Do not use a plastic cap) get under medium heat dryer. (You can use a hand dryer, but hair should not be agitated while drying.) Note: When ApHOGEE Treatment is dried into the hair, the hair becomes extremely hard. Do not comb or brush hair while Treatment is dried and in the hair.

Once the hair is dried and cracklin...Re-wet and gently rinse thoroughly with warm water.

(DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP)
Apply ApHOGEE Moisturizer to hair & scalp. Leave for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Proceed to next service or style as usual.

Now ladies and gents..this was a small preview of how to take care of your mane..there are so many excellent products on the market that will assist you. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I love to answer questions that has anything to do with beauty.

I found you on youtube. Yes that, Aphogee does work miracles! But it smells like some hot melted garbage, lol. Actually it's not that bad. You just don't expect to willingly put something that smells like that on yourself. Anyway, glad I found your blog (I followed the tutorial you had with your cousin Tune).
